Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of the previous year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.
His counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
